in a deadly crime spree in san jose. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was caught friday night after a series of robberies, police chase and shooting and a carjacking attempt that left one man dead. >> about 9:00 i hear a -- not continuous gunshots but maybe a little one after another. >> saw the victim's father up in the front and she was still in shock finding out that the son had been shot in front of the 7-eleven. >> police say wilbanks' alleged accomplice got away and is still on the run. the reward money is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. >>> menlo park police are looking for suspects in the city's second murder this year. 42-year-old man shot to death saturday night as he sat in a car with a woman in the 300 block of ivy drive. police say the suspects took the woman's purse and ran in separate directions. it's the third shooting this month in menlo park's bell haven neighborhood. >>> a new apology from the bishop of san jose. that's after a registered sex offender was allowed to volunteer at a school festival and now the church and the sheriff's office are tryin

of the hour, cristina loren is here in san jose outside the studio, with what happened and what is still to come, good morning, christina. >> hey, good morning to you, marla. we recontrolled roles, if you were on the summit earlier today and now, i'm live in san jose. san jose, you have not even felt the brunt of this storm. that is the case along the peninsula. it looks like the north face has been slammed the hardest. but what i can tell you about these shower, they are definitely steady and we're also getting very steady wind gusts from time to time making it hard to hold on to the umbrella. let's talk about where the showers are currently position and what's to come. right now, the front is primarily draped over the east bay and extends all the way southward to the santa cruz mountainses. i want to talk about some of the substantial wind gusts so far. as you may well know, this is now the windiest point of this storm system. 66 miles per hour, so far, clocked in el diablo la scatis, and 43 miles per hour. it's very unusual for san francisco to get wind gusts at 45 miles per hour and

san jose to explain what happened in the shooting of a marine in san jose in palm springs. >> reporter: well, this marine attended piedmont high school here in san jose his sophomore and junior here and then transferred out. are calling this a tragedy. here is picture of him. 22 years old. he was stationed out of 29 palms. police in palm springs say two bicycle officers heard yelling in a parking garage and when they entered, they recognized him and his marine friend from a public intoxication from earlier that night and the men started to yell derogatory comments. one of the officers reached in the car. >> the suspect accelerated directly toward the other officer. >> reporter: the officers both fired their weapons and shot him which resulted in his death. the passenger was uninjured. the marine's family told me on the phone he's a good man who served in afghanistan. they say what police is describing is completely out of character. there's an american flag and patriotic stickers. neighbors say the family was also -- the family was always proud of him. >> you think you ar

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s
